 Tours & Demos

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), is a non-profit, educational group focused on researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.  The SCA consists of 19 Kingdoms with over 30,000 members, and up to 100,000 participants residing in countries around the world. Each year many of those participants travel to Estrella War to live in a medieval village, and participate in a medieval style war between Kingdoms.

Unlike a Renaissance Faire, where performers are paid to entertain attendees, the SCA is a re-enactment group where the people attending participate to learn and have fun (no one is paid to attend the event). All attendees at Estrella War dress in the clothing and armor of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and participate in activities that may feature tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. With over seven days of medieval activities, the Estrella War is therefore a wonderful opportunity for other educational organizations, local schools, and home school groups to learning about life, activities, and arts in the Middle Ages.

If you are with an educational organization or non-profit group, we invite you to contact us and arrange a Group Tour of the event. Tours usually open with a presentation that includes:

  • An introduction the Middle Ages
  • A demonstration of medieval combat
  • An overview of the Estrella War Event
  • A tour of the site conducted by one of our members

  • Tours include a visit to the Period Encampment to see demonstrations of medieval arts and craft.  While the demonstrations vary, they may include crafts like medieval shoe making, woodworking, candle making, falconry, cooking, calligraphy and more.

Tours are free but must be scheduled before the event.  To request more information about scheduling and arranging tours, or if you wish to assist at the event with running the tours, please contact the School Demo Coordinator.
