The Kingdom of Atenveldt (the local SCA chapter that hosts the Estrella War) allows a special form of SCA martial arts called “Youth Combat” for youth between the age of 6 and 17 years of age. Participation in youth combat requires compliance with special armor and weapons standards, as well as the presence of the parent or legal guardian during all tournaments and scenarios in which the youth participates.
Youth combat activities are open to both boys and girls, are organized by age group, and may include one-on-one tournaments, as well as melee-style scenarios conducted between two opposing groups of fighters. Youth fighters are encouraged to bring extra weapons and armor that they feel comfortable sharing/loaning when they come to Estrella War. Youth who wish to try Youth Combat for the first time are encouraged to contact Atenveldt’s Kingdom Youth Combat Marshal before the event to understand what the combatant and parent must bring to try SCA Youth Combat.
Youth Combat Weapons Standards:
Youth Combat sponsored by the Kingdom of Atenveldt will use the KINGDOM OF ATENVELDT ARMOR, WEAPON, AND GUIDELINES FOR YOUTH COMBAT.
Copies of Youth Combat Weapons Standards used for all scheduled Youth Combat at Estrella War will be available at the Youth Combat sign up table. Marshals will be present to answer questions each day (see posted schedule).
Youth Combat Schedule
A schedule of Youth Combat activities for Estrella War XXVI will be provided here when it is available, and will be included on the schedule of events.
If you have questions, or wish to assist with marshalling, waterbearing, heralding or running Youth Combat at the event, please contact Atenveldt’s Kingdom Youth Combat Marshal for more information, or show up at the fighting field each day.
