 Merchants Row

“Shopping is my absolute favorite thing to do at Estrella.  I can find things I never see anywhere else, and I almost always run into old friends I haven’t seen in ages!”- Woman using ATM on Merchants Row

Estrella War XXVI Map of Merchants Row(TBD)

With over 150 merchant booths organized into streets, Estrella War offers one of the largest Merchant Rows for medieval themed merchandise in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Shoppers are invited to take a leisurely walk through the lanes to discover items sold by merchants from around the SCA Known World. Whether you’re looking for armor (helmets, breastplates, knee or elbow protection), costumes of all periods and styles, accessories (hats, snoods, shoes, parasols) books, jewelry, a new pavilion, feast gear (mugs, plates, goblets), medieval-styled furniture or the supplies (fabric, trim, rattan, shield blanks, leather or fur) to construct medieval items, you have a good chance of finding it. You can locate almost any medieval item you need to attend Estrella War (or any other SCA event) on Merchants Row at Estrella War.

There are also food merchants on Merchants Row! Food booths are grouped together in a central area where you can sit and have coffee, breakfast, a quick lunch, or grab an ice cream or cold drink.  This allows shoppers to keep up their energy for shopping, and provides a great place to meet and visit with old friends!

Merchant booths open for business at Noon on Tuesday when General Admission for the event begins, and remain open each day throughout the event.  In past years, one evening has also been designated for a “Midnight Madness” sale, when Merchants remain open until Midnight to offer special bargain prices. Many merchants accept personal checks with proper identification, and an increasing number of merchants take major credit cards.  ATM machines are conveniently located near the food merchants so shoppers can get immediate cash at the event.

See the Gatebook you receive when you arrive at the event for a list of Merchants, information about “Midnight Madness” sales, and announcements of other events scheduled on Merchants Row. For information about operating a merchant booth at Estrella War, and a list of Merchants who attended last year’s Estrella War, see the Merchant Registration page of this site. Questions about Merchants Row should be directed to the Merchant Coordinator.

A Special Thank You!

The Kingdom of Atenveldt and the Estrella War Staff wish to extend a special thank you to all of the merchants at Estrella War for the support they continue to provide for the volunteers working at the event. Each year, the generous merchants in the Estrella War Merchants Row donate gifts to be given to people who work volunteer hours at Estrella War. As each volunteer completes their volunteer hours, they are given ticket(s) for the hours they worked, and asked to take those ticket(s) to Volunteer Point where their name is recorded.  Raffles are then held to randomly select people who have volunteered at the event to receive the wonderful items donated by the Estrella War merchants.  The merchants do this to support and express their appreciation for the work done by the all-volunteer staff running the Estrella War, and their generosity is most appreciated!
